Site Information
Oh? You want to know more about this mess of a site? Well, come on in!
First off, this site is based on the template made by
Almost Sweet. It also uses elements made by
Tetofruits
and
ReduxFlakes.
I made this place as an outlet for my creative endeavors, away from the claws of mainstream
Internetia.
Not only is it harder than ever to show your worth in the middle of an ever increasing crowd, the platforms themselves restrict and exploit you instead of helping you grow. For example, on Twitter, you have a surprisingly little amount of customization. Just the profile picture, a short bio (with a pinned post) and a banner image. Ah, you want more out of the platform? You gotta pay for Twitter Gold++ to get a checkmark...
Don't get me started on practically all platforms using
dark patterns
to do shady things like shoving your posts into an AI machine or disturbing privacy violations. And the ones that respect your privacy more, are empty!
A place like Nekoweb also gives the author creative control and it feels a lot more fulfilling than yer usual social media, even forums. And don't get me started on how helpful it is to the internet's culture, everything feels more alive and welcoming in these corners of the web.
Venus Territory also uses the Archery Black Oblique font for the text logo and the IBM Plex font superfamily for the rest of the text. It uses the Rosé Pine color scheme for the website's looks.
The current and fourth iteration of the site,
Venus Overload, is returning the website to its roots. By using
Almost Sweet's template as a basis, Venus Territory leans more into a mixture of our current era's flat responsive design and Web 1.0 aesthetics. I tried my best to keep this as readable as possible so it might look closer to Flat Metro than anything older/newer.
The
Overload
is there thanks to the new header images! They were made by
湊あお, with the dithering effect being made by me (thank you,
RacerDuvan, for your dithering guide). This is truly a
Venus Overload, not only the header is Sailor Venus themed, the background showcases
Roserades, as the rose is one of the symbols of Venus (and it's less jarring to the eyes than the previous Ishtar star one).
The third version was a revamp, leaning heavily into
Frutiger Aero. The older second version of the site was the result of imagining what would happen if Sailor Venus ran a cursed fruit store (the fruits talk, don't ask if it's her imagination or, you know, schizophrenia, or just normal magic shenanigans). The first version of the site had a more earthy gruvbox lemony feel, it was then recolored to Rosé Pine.
I believe that all of the Teto Fruits have been eradicated. If you see one, please tell me!
We need to turn the survivors into... Juice? Yes! Juice!
Those are my reasons for creating this site. A combination of finding it fun to do, with the added benefits of being part of something larger, alongside a harder to censor presence online, all while airing my thoughts out for the world to see.
